Why we must Rebuild the DC Aggie House

Dear Aggies and friends:

“Oh, There’s No Place Like Home for the Holidays” and “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” are two classics that give us a loving and cozy feeling no matter the time of year. Both songs combine the spirit of the season with our love for that most special place in our lives … our home.  This year we are asking our alumni and friends to help us create a new home for all Aggies who live or visit Washington DC.

In 1965, the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University Alumni Association, Incorporated, Washington, DC Chapter (NCA&TSUAA-WDC) purchased the only beautiful and detached home on 15th Street, Northwest, Washington, DC in hopes of providing Alumni with a special place to soundly execute the chapter’s vision. The Aggie House has been a monument in the lives of the Alumni for many years.  It is a place where we love to meet alumni, greet students and celebrate auspicious occasions.  Today, the Aggie House is still our main place of fellowship; however, given the normal wear and tear, our Aggie Home is in dire need of repairs and we need your support to help renovate the place we call, “Aggie Home”. Our goal for the Aggie House is to make it functionally safe so it will be a revenue-generating entity, which will allow us to award multiple scholarships to Washington Metropolitan area students.

Alumni, there are few organizations who can say they own a brownstone in the most popular neighborhood in Washington DC. We want to make sure we continue to respect and honor our Aggie Forefathers/mothers, who envisioned greatness when they purchased the Aggie House, by continuing to take care of this precious gem.  Here is where you can help; from September 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016 we are continuing the  “Rebuild the Aggie Home Campaign”. During this time, we will host a telethon and send mailings, such as this one to our alumni family and friends.

Enclosed, please find a donation card for you to complete along with your donation.  If you prefer to donate online visit www.rebuild.wdc-ncatalumni.org and click on “Rebuild” icon.  All donations are tax-deductible and each gift will be recognized.  It is our hope that you will support the campaign and be a donor starting today.  Please know, all gifts $500.00 or more, will guarantee you free membership (worth $75.00).  To make this a fun and memorable giving experience, we will periodically mail and e-mail each donor pictures of our progress as we make this house a more beautiful and safe place to welcome home Aggies and future Aggies.

In conclusion, we hope you will join the many alumni who are committed to making this campaign an Aggie Success.  Aggies have moved to the city and found their way to an alumni meeting but when they left, they knew that they had a family just a block away. If you have further questions, please email us at info@rebuild.wdc-ncatalumni.org or call us at 202-265-7224.  We say thank you so much in advance!!!
